I am so grateful we learnt how to contour correctly. There are so many girls out there applying their concealer/bronzer so heavily, they end up looking plastic. The Kim K look is a no no and too fake for catwalk.
Here are some images of a beautiful delicate catwalk contour.
The last image is my favourite, although the model has such amazing cheekbones, the highlight and contour really defines them.
Creating a well applied contour is all about sculpting the face. It has to be subtle and sophisticated so maybe it would be a good idea to tone down any products you use - less is more.
GOLDEN RULE
CONTOUR MUST STAY MATTE
HIGHLIGHTER MUST ME SHIMMERY
As this was the first time I was contouring properly, I was extremely pleased with my finished look.
I began covering the face with foundation that matched the models skin. I buffed this in then used some concealer under the eyes and on any blemishes. Using some translucent powder I set the foundation.
Then I started with my bronzer to contour. I prefer to use an angled brush because it fits perfectly under the cheekbones, then once the product is where I want it, I buff it in so there are no harsh lines. I then did the same under the jaw bone.
Lastly I finished with the highlighter. This can be done with blusher or a white shimmer, I chose to add a bit of both to give some slight rosy cheeks.
