Timed Assessment Face/Hair Charts

Face Chart

Here is my face chart for my day look which I will be recreating for my timed assessment.  I have chosen a brown smokey eye with a pink lip, with focus on the eyelashes.  I would like to use a blonde model for this look because it is a soft make-up and I think blonde hair will compliment this.

  6. Using the Naked 1 palette and a flat brush, apply the shade 'Naked' all over the lid shadowing out to 'Buck' at the edge of the eyes.

  12. Line the lips using Kiko's Lip Liner in 712.
  13. Finish the look with Estee Lauder's Lipstick - Rebellious Rose.
Hair Chart

Here are my hair charts, I decided to go for that relaxed look similar to my inspiration.  I would like a model with mid length hair because I think dead straight hair suits longer hair.  It will also be easier to show the relaxness off.

Step by step

Products
  • Hairdryer
  • Denham Brush
  • Paddle Brush
  • Straightners
  • Shine Serum
  • Water Spray
  1. Start off again at the bottom of the head and section off a small section.
  2. Use the hairdryer with a nozzle to control the heat and a Denham brush to get right to the root of the hair.
  3. Slightly wet the hair. Blow-dry the hair straight down making sure the nozzle stays in contact with the hair at all times.
  4. Make sure each section is fully dry before moving onto the next.  Repeat this process to whole head.  When you start moving up the hair, use the paddle brush to dry as it gives a better finish.
  5. Once it is all dry, you can go over it with the straighteners to clamp all the hair together to prevent fly aways.
  6. Lastly, finish with some shine serum on your fingers and run it through the hair.

Timed Assessment Moodboards

Hair moodboard

Below is my hair moodboard. I picked these images as they are blonde with the relaxed look that I wanted. I like the lift the hair has at the front which I'd like to try to recreate.

 Make-Up moodboard

Below is my make-up moodboard which I think goes perfectly with the hairstyle I'd like to create.  I love the soft brown eye with prominent lashes.  I also love the poses, they look natural not false, although I like the smiley image above.

Overall moodboard

I really like the pose on the right of this moodboard.  Not so much the styling, but her hair and facial expression look pretty and day-like.  I like how she is half smiling, it gives the image some character.

Perfume Shoot Final Images

Final Images Perfume Shoot

The only thing I would change about these images is maybe my camera angle.  I should've taken some images from above to flatter my model a bit more.  However I do really like my chosen make-up for this look and the pink like ties in well with the gold/pink eye.

Perfume Face/Hair Charts

As the make-up is quite bold, I decided to opt for a sleek ponytail.  Sleek straight hair looks so neat and classic with a beautiful make-up.

Perfume Practise/Test Shoot

I really dislike my styling for these images, the shirt doesn't look right with the ponytail or the make-up.  I also didn't think the eyeshadow was gold enough, it looks too brown in the images.  As I am using the perfume bottle for inspiration, the eyeshadow definitely needed more gold shimmer.

Perfume Moodboards

Hair Moodboard

I collected some images of a sleek ponytail because this is the hairstyle I think would compliment my pretty make-up.  Having the hair in a pretty ponytail off the face can accentuate the make-up and bone structure.

Make-up Moodboard

The collection of images below are perfect to represent my ideal look.  I want the gold to really stand out without it looking too yellow.

Overall Moodboard

For my overall moodboard I have included a picture at the bottom from the TV advert.  I like this pose and the one above.  I feel they represent the brand well which is feminine and pretty.

Perfume Inspiration

For my final shoot, I chose perfume as my added product.  Estee Lauder recently launched their new perfume 'Modern Muse', so I thought this was a perfect opportunity to use this as my inspiration.  I chose to base my look on the bottle itself which is pink, gold and very elegant looking.

As I am sticking to the gold and pink theme, I wanted to create a gorgeous golden smokey eye, just like the one below.  I think this with a pale pink lip will look great with a soft ponytail off the face. The eyebrow looks girly and elegant here with not too much product to block it out.

I really like the sleek look below.  The hair is nicely pulled off the face, showing off the make-up, the skin looks flawless and matte.  I also think the pose is cute please, everything about the image is girly just like the perfume.

Spring Summer 15 Shoot Final Images

Final Images Spring/Summer 15 Shoot

I do really like these images, however I feel I could've worked a bit more on the hairstyle.  It does fit well with the look, although I think I could've styled the curls better.

I love the lip colour and it contrasts well with the blonde hair.  The images are perfect for the products I was advertising and I really like the soft contour.

Spring/Summer 15 Face/Hair Charts

Again I have chosen to focus on the lips, advertising Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy Lipsticks.  I also wanted the eyeshadow to reflect on the lips, so I decided to choose a shimmery light pink shadow.

Hair Charts

I decided to have a mixture of tight and bouncy curls for my Spring/Summer 15 look.  As I had chosen to advertise the 'Infamous' Pure Colour Envy Lipstick, I chose a blonde model to contrast the bright pink lipstick.  Also, curls pick up a lot of texture when photographed on blonde people.

Step by step

Products

  • Hair brush
  • Heated Rollers
  • Hair pins
  • Vitapoint
  • Back combing brush
  • Hairspray
  1. Brush the hair thoroughly to remove all the knots to prepare for the rollers.
  2. Once the heated rollers are hot enough, start at the top and roll them into the hair.  Set them in the direction you want the hair to go.  Use 2/3 pins to keep these in place whilst you wait for them to cool.
  3. Once they are stone cold, remove each roller one by one and brush the curls using the back combing brush as the bristles aren't as harsh.
  4. Add some Vitapoint to separate the curls slightly and give them more definition.
  5. Back comb the top of the hair to add some volume, this will also help keep the hair off the face to show off the make-up.
  6. Lastly use some hairspray to set the curls into place.

Spring/Summer 15 Practise/Test Shoot

I had also decided on the main colours of eyeshadow for this look, so I tried out a few lipsticks to see which one I preferred.

First lipstick I tried was 'Pink Plaid' by MAC.  I think this was a little to Barbie like and didn't compliment the make-up at all.  It looks extremely fake and that's not what Estee Lauder promote themselves as.

This is my favourite hot pink lipstick which looks just like Estee Lauder's 'Infamous'.  It is actually a mixture of 2 colours from the Kryolan Lipstick palette which creates the perfect shade.

Lastly I added 'Cyber' by MAC on the lips.  I also added some 'Blackhearts' from the Naked 3 palette on the eyes, but I definitely prefer the look above.

Spring/Summer 15 Moodboards

Hair Moodboard

I have chosen some images of blonde curls to reflect my inspiration. I love the tighter ones at the bottom.  I am also going to use a blonde model because I think the pink lips will contrast with the lightness of the hair.

Make-up Moodboard

I love the different shades of pink in the Pure Color Envy range - especially Infamous.  I have also included the image from before with minimal eye make-up.

Overall Moodboard

Lastly in this moodboard I have included the two images on the right from the Estee Lauder's Pure Color Envy lipstick advertisements.  I love the poses and hairstyle, they look well styled which I'd like to try for my images.

Spring/Summer 15 Inspiration

For my Spring/Sumer look, I really wanted to include a bright lip for the focal point. I also wanted a dewy skin, similar to the image below.  I like how minimal they eye make-up is which is just like my beach look.

The product I wanted to use as my advertising point was the original Pure Color Envy Lipstick because there are some great bright colours I could pick from.

This image is simple but effective with again the dewy skin and bright lip.  Although the lip is glossy and I would prefer a matte finish.  I also like this pose, it shows off the make-up well and is in clear light.  This image is shot on location, but I feel mine would fit the brand better if it was shot in a studio.

I love the thought of soft bouncy curls for a spring/summer and this picture below is what I'd like to create.  I do think some tighter curls mixed in would look pretty too and will compliment the bright pink lip.

Night Shoot Final Images

Evening Look Final Images

I feel choosing a green smoky eye was a good choice instead of a traditional black on.  The colour works well with my models hair and she has a great bone structure for this look.  I decided on a mid pink tone lip as the main focus is the eyeshadow in this look.

If I was to change anything it would be to slightly brush the hair, although I quite like the messy ponytail look.

Night Face/Hair Charts

Face Chart

From my inspiration and mood boards you will have seen that I chose a green smokey eye for my Night look.  I chose to apply this look on a model with green/hazel eyes because they will really reflect the colour of the eyeshadow.  I have then also chosen to have a light pink glossy lip as this is an evening look.

Hair Charts

Here are my hair charts for my evening look.  I chose to go for a hair up style with some volume, this suited my model best and complimented the make up.  My model had long light brown hair which worked well with the hairstyle, it abled me to use some hair to wrap around the hairband.  This disguised the black band.

Step by Step

Products

  • Denham Brush
  • Back Combing brush
  • Hair Spray
  • Hair pins
  • Hair Band
  1. Brush the hair throughly so all the knots are out.
  2. Take the front section and using the back combing brush, back comb well making sure you start at the root.  This will help create more volume and it will be easier to comb out at the end.
  3. Once back combed well, bring all the hair back and arrange it into a low ponytail.  Use the back combing brush to help arrange the hair and neaten it.
  4. Secure the hair with a hair band and tighten to the head.  Use your fingers to sit the hair where you'd like it.
  5. Take a small piece of hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the hair band.  Secure this with a bobby pin.
  6. I left the ponytail natural and just added some slight back combing to give it some body.
  7. Lastly, spray some hairspray on your hands and brush over the hair, this will help tame any flyaways.

Night Practise/Test Shoot

I am definitely settled for a green smoky eye, it was just lip colour I needed to decided.  Here are some options I tested out.

The image above is using 'Potent' by Estee Lauder. I think this is a little too light for the eyeshadow, and looks a bit too fake.

The next lipstick is called 'Red Ego' again by Estee Lauder.  As I am focusing on the eyes for these images, I found the red a little too out there and it takes attention away from the eyes.

The last lipstick I tried is 'Rebellious Rose' by Estee Lauder and it is my favourite.  It is just the right shade of pink, and compliments the green well.

Night Moodboards

Hair Moodboard

I have collected some images together with a similar ponytail hairstyle that I'd like to create.  A relaxed ponytail with some volume and back comb can help the style suit an evening look.

Make-up Moodboard

I have also found some more images of a green smokey eye modelled by Constance.  This is a lighter shade of green that I would like and could be used as a day look.  The three green swatches below are the colours from the palette I am going to use to create the look.

Overall Moodboard

These images below are the poses I'd like to have for my looks.  Natural looking with the make-up really showing.  I also like how you can see the jaw line and side of the face.

Night Inspiration

I used the picture below for my night look inspiration.  I wanted to create a smoky eye but with a twist.  A popular colour for Estee Lauder palettes is green.  I found some images with a beautiful green smokey eye, below is Joan Smalls modelling the Pure Colour Envy palette.  I wanted to pick a model with lighter skin to complement the dark green tones.

As I am sticking to the advert theme I have chosen to use my Pure Colour Trio palette in Camo Chrome for the focus on the picture.  Therefore I have opted for a nude lip to compliment this.

As I was aiming for a strong make-up look, I wanted to create a relaxed hairstyle with a bit of volume, this will help it look smarter.  I like the image below because the hair is off the face but still looks fashionable.  I think this hairstyle with the green eye will create the perfect evening combination.

My final picture for inspiration is the pose I'd like to create for my look.  I'd quite like a natural pose, maybe with the eyes down so the green is really prominent.
