Beach Shoot Final Images

Final Images Beach Shoot

The dewy skin and lip colour work really well together in my images. I'm really pleased with my styling and my models poses.  The longer hair works better for the style and compliments the make-up well.  I love the way these images have turned out.

If I was to change anything it would maybe be the nail colour.

Beach Face/Hair Charts

Face Chart

The lipstick I have chosen has come out quite red on my face charts, however it is more of a coral/orange colour.  I have chosen a brown/orange smokey eye to compliment the lipstick and tie the whole look together.

Step by Step

Products

  • Garnier Micellar Water
  • Daywear Moisturiser
  • MAC Prep and Prime Primer
  • MAC Studio Fix
  • Bobbi Brown palette
  • Naked 2
  • Naked 3
  • Sumptuous Infinite Mascara
  • Illamasqua Disobey - Contour
  • MAC Strobe Cream
  • Bobbi Brown Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick
  • Pure Colour Envy Shine - Discreet
  1. Prepare the skin with Garner Micellar Water and Estee Lauder Daywear moisturiser.
  2. Apply the MAC Primer all over the face using a flat brush.
  3. Using a buffing brush, apply a light coat of foundation all over the face, don't apply too much as this is a very natural shot.
  4. Conceal dark circles and blemishes with the Bobbi Brown Palette.
  5. Using a flat brush, apply 'Booty call' and 'Tease' from the Naked 2 palette all over the eyelid.
  6. With a pointed brush, apply 'Trick' from Naked 3 in the crease of the eyelid.
  7. Apply just a slight coat of mascara on the lashes because the main focus in this make up is the lips.
  8. Leave the brows natural, just brush them to give them some shape and make sure all the hairs are facing the right way.
  9. With your finger, apply some MAC Strobe Cream on the cheekbones to really highlight the skin.  This will give a dewy look.
  10. Slightly dust some Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick over this to add some extra highlight.
  11. Use a contour brush to contour underneath the cheekbones with Illamasqua's Disobey.
  12. Lastly finish with Estee Lauder's Discreet lipstick.
Hair Charts

I decided to go for a typical beach hairstyle which is waves.  I wanted to use salt spray and mousse to achieve lots of texture and use a mixture of scrunching and a diffuser.  I have also chosen a model with long dark hair, so I can create really big waves.

Step by Step

Products

  • Water Spray
  • Mousse
  • Sea Salt Spray
  • Hair dryer and Diffuser
  • Hair brush
Method

  1. Brush hair thoroughly, start at the bottom of the hair and section a medium section off.
  2. Wet down the section and add some mousse and salt spray through the whole section.
  3. Start drying the hair with the hairdryer, scrunching as you go.  Using the diffuser will help give a wavy beach look.
  4. Repeat the process with each section of hair, making sure they are perfectly dry so the waves stay in.
  5. Use your hands to arrange the hair where you'd like it, avoid using a brush because this will brush the waves out.

Beach Practise/Test Shoots

I also tested lip colours for this look too.  I needed a coral/orange colour to stand out but not look too made up.  It also needed to tie in with the eyeshadow.

In the image above, I only use MAC's Lipglass - 'PRRR'.  This didn't give as much colour as I'd hoped and came out more a clear gloss.  It would be better to use this over a lipstick to add a shine.

The next lipstick I tried was Estee Lauder's 'Potent'.  This was a little too pink for what I was looking for, and didn't go too well with the eyeshadow.

Lastly I tried this new lipstick by Estee Lauder in 'Discreet'. It was perfect for my look and worked well on the lips as it was glossy.

I also had a quick practise of the hairstyle I wanted to achieve.  I needed to make sure I new how to create this hairstyle and whether I needed a diffuser or not.

Beach Moodboards

Hair Moodboard

I have gathered some images together of amazing beach hair.  The image on the right is perfect my beach look.  I want to achieve fresh out of the sea hair with beautiful waves.  Using a diffuser will help create this look.

Make-up Moodboard

Again I have the image of the eye make-up for my inspiration.  As you can see this really compliments the lip above which is a great summer colour.  I have also included an image of the new lipsticks I'm basing my look on.  I will be using a mixture of the two colours below.

Overall Moodboard

These are some poses I'd like to have my model in for my images.  They are also wearing similar make-up with a dewy sun kissed skin.

Beach Inspiration

For my beach look I found this gorgeous picture of Kendall Jenner - Estee Lauder's latest model.  I love her lip colour and thought it would be perfect to use for my beach look.  Although Kendall's eyelashes stand out, I would rather focus on the lips.

Estee Lauder have recently launched a new lipstick line called Pure Color Envy Shine.  They are following on from the normal Pure Color Envy's but have more of a glossy finish for the spring time. There is a beautiful orange/coral colour that has been released which would be perfect for the look I'd like to create.

For the eyes, I'd like to tie in the colour of the lips.  The eyeshadow below would be perfect to match the coral lips.  I am not going to use the eyeliner because I feel the look will look over done and not beachy.

I love the look of beachy waves.  I love the texture in the image below, it looks natural and not too styled.  Salt spray will really help achieve this look.

Day Shoot Final Images

Final Day Shoot Images

I am really pleased with my final images, the contour is soft and pretty and the hair looks styled but natural.  If I was to change anything I would maybe ask my model to smile a bit more and choose a top with a lower neck line.

I love the colour I chose for the lips and the contour for the smoky eye.  My main focus in this shot was the lashes, I'm really happy with them and I like the shadow they have created.

Day Face and Hair Charts

Face Chart

Here is my face chart for my day look.  I have chosen a brown smokey eye with a pink lip, with focus on the eyelashes.  I would like to use a blonde model for this look because it is a soft make-up and I think blonde hair will compliment this.

Hair Chart

Here are my hair charts, I decided to go for that relaxed look similar to my inspiration.  I would like a model with mid length hair because I think dead straight hair suits longer hair.  It will also be easier to show the relaxness off.

Step by step

Products
  • Hairdryer
  • Denham Brush
  • Paddle Brush
  • Straightners
  • Shine Serum
  • Water Spray
  1. Start off again at the bottom of the head and section off a small section.
  2. Use the hairdryer with a nozzle to control the heat and a Denham brush to get right to the root of the hair.
  3. Slightly wet the hair. Blow-dry the hair straight down making sure the nozzle stays in contact with the hair at all times.
  4. Make sure each section is fully dry before moving onto the next.  Repeat this process to whole head.  When you start moving up the hair, use the paddle brush to dry as it gives a better finish.
  5. Once it is all dry, you can go over it with the straighteners to clamp all the hair together to prevent fly aways.
  6. Lastly, finish with some shine serum on your fingers and run it through the hair.

Day Practise/Test Shoots

Here are my practises for my day look.  I really like the brown smoky eye and the lip colour.  I am unsure on the outfit choice for Estee Lauder, it doesn't look elegant enough and is a bit too thick for a day look.

I am also not too sure on the hair either it looks too natural and I'm not sure about it being all on one side.

Day Moodboards

Hair moodboard

Below is my hair moodboard. I picked these images as they are blonde with the relaxed look that I wanted. I like the lift the hair has at the front which I'd like to try to recreate.

 Make-Up moodboard

Below is my make-up moodboard which I think goes perfectly with the hairstyle I'd like to create.  I love the soft brown eye with prominent lashes.  I also love the poses, they look natural not false, although I like the smiley image above.

Overall moodboard

I really like the pose on the right of this moodboard.  Not so much the styling, but her hair and facial expression look pretty and day-like.  I like how she is half smiling, it gives the image some character.

Day Inspiration

Estee Lauder are a very natural pretty brand with some pop of colour for certain looks.  For my day look I wanted to create a natural make-up with a brown smokey eye and nude/pink lip.  As this is about the brand, I have chosen to focus on a particular product for each look.

For this look I have chosen to focus on the eyelashes, as if my image was an advert for Estee Lauder's mascara - Sumptuous Infinite.

Below is the beautiful Constance modelling for the mascara advert.  She has a similar make-up look i wanted to achieve for my own image, a light pink lip with stand out lashes.  I like this image because it is very soft and pretty and this is the description I'd like to go for as well.  It is very important to focus on the eyelashes if you are advertising a mascara, so I have chosen a model with great lashes!

Below is another image for my inspiration.  To me, her lashes stand out and it is the first feature I am drawn to on the image.  The blusher isn't too heavy and the lipstick is minimal, this helps draw attention to the eyelashes.

For my hairstyle, I wanted to achieve something natural looking that didn't require too much heat or product as I feel this could make the style look over done.  Below is an image I really liked because it looks as if she has ruffled her hair and pulled it over to one side.  This gives the feel of a day look rather than too much styling which could turn it into evening, I want to go for more of a relaxed vibe. This is when I also decided I would like a blonde model.

Packaging

Packaging

Estee Lauder herself chose the signature blue boxes and packaging as she thought it would co-ordinate with the decor in most bathrooms and bedrooms.  Ester Lauder as a brand use 80% recycled products for their outer packaging and they use 100% PCR plastic content for their bottles.  When ordering online, the beautiful wrapping is not recyclable but can be re used for other gifts.

The perfume above is Estee Lauder Eau de Private Collection Spray, which was the fragrance Estee gave to Grace Kelly, wrapped in the paper above with her handwriting.

Estee Lauder recently launched new lipsticks called Pure Colour Envy.  These are long lasting ranging in many colours.  The packaging is still classic keeping with the navy and gold theme. They have a magnetic close perfect for any handbag.

Skincare

Estee Lauder skincare packaging is so pretty.  It is divided into pastel colours that solve different concerns.  For example blue/turquoise helps prevent pores and fine lines and wrinkle.  Purple/pink is for deeper wrinkles and for women/men who would like to firm and lift their skin.  Dark blue/dark purple is a new range called Enlighten which helps even out the skin tone and helps lighten dark spots.

The pretty pastel pots look beautiful with the gold lids and detailing.  These would look great on anyones bathroom shelf.

Models

Hilary Rhoda

Hilary Rhoda modelled for Estee Lauder from 2008-2011. She was the main model for most of their advertisements such as their perfumes Beautiful and Sensuous.  Below are some of her big images, she's a beautiful model with dark features and a lovely bone structure.  Natural beauty is very important for Estee Lauder because they are a very pretty elegant brand.

Carolyn Murphy

Carolyn Murphy started modelling for Estee Lauder in 2008, at age 33 she was one of the older models and advertised products like Re-Nutriv which is an anti ageing cream.  Although she was an older model, Carolyn looked very young and beautiful, she definitely did not look her age.

Constance Jablonski

Constance started modelling for Estee Lauder in 2010 and was still modelling for them in 2014!  She is a beautiful blonde with soft features - perfect for Estee Lauder advertisements.   Constance is great for floaty pretty perfume adverts, but also looks great in the heavier night make-up looks.

Joan Smalls

Joan Smalls modelled along side Constance during 2011.  With amazing bone structure she was the first Latina model for Estee Lauder.  Here is a quote about Joan from Richard Ferretti, Estee Lauders global creative director - "The word supermodel is overused, but if there's any woman of our generation who deserves the title, it's Joan. She can go from looking girl-next-door to superchic-tough-strong—and she is all of that."

Arizona Muse

Arizona Muse is one of the most recent models for Estee Lauder starting in just 2013.  She was the face of the new perfume 'Modern Muse' and has modelled for other advertisements since, especially the newest perfume 'Modern Muse Chic'.

Kendall Jenner

Lastly, the newest face of Estee Lauder is Kendall Jenner.  It was announced on Twitter and Facebook in 2014 that Kendall would be the new model.  Following on from such beautiful models, she fits in perfectly even if she is one of the youngest at 19 years old!
